What is business, tourism and public relations?

This one year course is an ideal entry level qualification for all aspects of the growing tourism sector in Ireland. This Tourism Programme has been designed to enable students to gain a broad understanding of the operations of the tourism industry and to facilitate their integration into the workplace or into further education and training. It also allows students to appreciate the opportunities presented by the web and e-business to successfully market products and services. This course also gives students an opportunity to study the area of tourism and travel both from the technology skills required and from the tourist industry perspective. This qualification can be used to progress to certificate and degree programmes in IT colleges or universities particularly in business faculties. This course is also suitable for people who want to pursue public relations or start their own business.

Career opportunities

Graduates may pursue a diploma or degree in many IT colleges around the country or, alternatively, may seek immediate employment in a range of tourist or other marketing concerns. The Tourism and Business option will allow students to progress to colleges like DIT, IT Tallaght or Shannon to pursue travel and tourism options.
