Community Development (6M3674)

Those who have a QQI Level 5 or equivalent qualification in any of the social care or community development areas may choose to pursue this Level 6 qualification aimed at careers as youth and community workers. This course is structured to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of persons currently working or volunteering in community based organisations. It is designed to meet the needs of community development professionals. This course also aims to help learners develop a knowledge and understanding of the history of community development in the Irish context, along with a comprehensive understanding of the world of work from a community development perspective. It also helps learners develop the capacity to work independently and provides a gateway to further study at third level. Modules will include Community Development Practice, Social Analysis, Community Development Theory, Conflict Management, Policy Making in Community Development, Group Work Theory and Practice, and Community Organisation Management.
