what is the workplace skills course?

This is an introductory skills course that gives time for students to settle into the college, and to work on their personal development and career options. It also gives students the opportunity to work on English, Maths and basic computer skills. It gives the learner a great opportunity to work on skills for employment or progress to a full level 5 course leading to employment or higher education. The course is delivered through small classes, some individual tuition and a wide range of creative activities and discussion groups. Students are facilitated in sampling the vocational courses in the college, in applying for courses elsewhere, or seeking jobs in open employment.

This course provides essential career skills that relate to a range of employment opportunities. The certificate awarded to successful candidates will enhance the prospects of getting employment in a range of areas including those in which they receive their work experience. For those students who wish to continue their education there are many options. Students who achieve the QQI Level 4 Certificate in General learning or Employment Skills can proceed to any Level 5 Certificate in Dunboyne College or similar institutions.

Junior Cert. Mature Students of all backgrounds. Other equivalent qualification. All applicants will be interviewed regardless of previous qualifications. ***Course subject to SUSI approval and modules may be changed due to availability and demand.
