WHAT IS FILM AND MEDIA PRODUCTION?
Dunboyne College’s Film and Media Production course is ideal for anyone with an interest in film and visual storytelling who wishes to explore the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking. It offers a solid introduction to key areas such as camera work, directing, editing, and scriptwriting. Through hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and software, students gain the skills and confidence needed to begin working in the field or to progress to further study.

CAREER AND PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES
Students will develop essential skills in film production, including camera operation, editing, directing and scriptwriting. These core competencies provide a strong foundation for further study.
Graduates of this course will be well equipped to progress to the Higher National Diploma in Film Production at Dunboyne College of Further Education. This advanced programme provides an excellent opportunity to further develop creative expression, build technical expertise, and gain practical industry experience. The HND offers a clear pathway into the screen industries as well as advanced entry into university degree programmes in Ireland and internationally. Graduates of the HND may also progress to our one-year top-up degree in Film and Television Production (Level 8, BA Hons).
Students can also progress to degree courses at institutions such as Dublin City University (DCU), Dun Laoghaire IADT, Maynooth University, TU Dublin, Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) and other universities and colleges nationwide.
This course provides students with the creative, technical and collaborative skills needed to succeed in a professional film or media environment, whether they choose to continue their studies or move directly into the industry.
