WHAT IS HAIRDRESSING?

This one-year course would prepare students for the ever-expanding world of hairdressing and haircare. This is the ideal starting point for a successful and fulfilling career in the hairdressing industry. Students develop the required skills to work in a professional salon and also perfect the customer communication essential to its success. The course will cover all key areas of hairdressing which will enhance students’ techniques, and their creative and inter-personal skills. This course caters for school leavers and mature learners. It is an intense, one-year programme, which requires a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates who qualify in this area can pursue a career in styling, theatrical film work, general hairdressing work, hairdressing retail outlets or it can lead to placement as a senior 1st year apprentice in a hairdressing salon. Further study for junior/senior trade certificates beauty salons, make-up and skin care consultancies, or work in leisure centres, cruise liners or in health farms and spas. Graduates may further their study at Level 6 in the hair/beauty industry in Dunboyne College of Further Education or any Level 7 or Level 8 courses at TU Dublin Blanchardstown, Dun Laoghaire, IADT, IT colleges etc.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Leaving Cert or LCA
• Mature students of all backgrounds
• Other equivalent qualification
