    WHAT IS SPORTS INJURY PREVENTION AND MASSAGE THERAPY?

    This one-year course will equip students with the knowledge and skills required for working within the area of sports injury prevention and sports massage therapy in the sports, coaching, recreation and leisure industries. Students will expand their education on the physiological principles related to sports massage and injury prevention. This course offers the potential to develop your studies onto third level education. Graduates can attain an internationally recognised qualification, upon achieving the QQI Level 5 standard of this course.

     

    CERTIFICATION

    • QQI Level 5 in Sports, Recreation and Exercise 5M5146 or Community and Health 5M4468
    • ITEC Level 3 in Holistic Massage Occupational First Aid Certificate in PPT Taping and Strapping

    CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

    Graduates from this course will be able to apply for third level education and can also progress to courses in sports injury or rehabilitation colleges like IT Carlow, CIT, LIT Letterkenny or Waterford and IT Tralee. Students can progress to PE Teaching via an undergraduate degree at IT Tralee or Cork University and to the Postgraduate Master in PE Teaching at UL. Graduates will also achieve coaching certificates enabling them to enter the sports coaching, sports management, recreation and instruction workforce.

    • Leaving Cert or LCA
    • Mature students of all backgrounds
    • Other equivalent qualification
