WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY ENGINEERING?
Engineering is a highly diversified and exciting profession with a wide range of specialisms from mechanical, civil, electrical, computer, building, biomedical, structural, modern technologies, aircraft to mention a few.
Everything around us has been designed and mostly
by Engineers. They are problem solvers and creative investigative people. From life-saving biomedical technology to energy-efficient housing and sustainable energy, engineers are developing innovative solutions for the benefit of society.
Many areas that future engineers will work in have not yet been created, which results in a very exciting sector for an individual to study and work. For those who wish to engage on a career in engineering, this course aims to prepare the student with an understanding of the field of engineering and will prepare students for entry into third level, through a range of practical and theoretical subjects

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students who graduate from this course are well prepared and have an understanding at a foundation level in engineering and can pursue further study at degree level. QQI graduates are eligible to apply for degrees to Universities and Technological Universities for Level 7- and 8-degree places throughout the country such as TU Dublin, Trinity College, DCU, UCC, DKIT, MTU, ATU, TUS to mention a few.
Students are well placed to gain apprenticeships in the many different engineering sectors through
Generation Apprenticeship Ireland on such programmes as Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Services Management and Equipment Systems Engineering.
Additionally, QQI level 5 award holders can apply for many non-related degree areas in Technological
Universities and on some university degrees throughout the country.
