WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY LAW?

This one-year course will prepares participants for entrance into Law and Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges. As well as preparing students to work in a legal environment both in Ireland and abroad. By progressing to a Law degree, and then on to a post graduate qualification, students can access the many opportunities available to those with a legal qualification. This course lays the foundation for those who know Law is their first choice and supports those who are planning to study Law at degree level. Graduates of this course have successfully qualified as solicitors.

There are now over 175 places in First Arts in Maynooth University, 30 places in UCD as well as numerous places in DCU, UCC, Mater Dei
for eligible students who hold a QQI qualification in Legal Studies.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

There are places on Law and Legal Studies degrees in TCD, UCC, DCU, TUD City Campus, Maynooth University including; St. Patrick’s College Maynooth, South East Technological University Waterford/Carlow, NUIG, DBS, Shannon College, Atlantic Technological University Letterkenny.

There are now over 175 places in First Arts in Maynooth University, 30 places in UCD as well as numerous places in DCU, UCC, Mater Dei for students who hold a QQI qualification in Legal Studies.

There are also many other opportunities in law or legal studies programmes in third level colleges all around Ireland.

We also have a very close link with Bangor University in Wales. In addition, there are opportunities in European administration, local heritage concerns, the public sector as well as in the business world through insurance, banking, or international trade.

WHAT IS BUSINESS LAW?

This one-year course prepares students for entrance into law and arts degrees in Irish universities and colleges.

It also prepares students to work both in a legal environment in Ireland and abroad as well as in the legal departments of the business world.

This law course option is available with additional modules in Business Administration, Applied Economics and Accounting Manual and Computerised.

This course will also help those who want to study legal, business or combination courses in universities.

WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY LAW WITH POLITICS?

This one-year course will prepare students for entrance into Law and Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges. It will also prepare students to work in a legal environment both in Ireland and abroad.

This law course option is available with political studies. Law and politics are two distinctive disciplines that are often intrinsically connected. Students will have the opportunity to explore legal and political theory while developing critical research and communication skills.

Graduates with a degree in this area have a broad range of career options, such as, in law, consultancy, public sector roles, political roles, public affairs and advocacy.

WHAT IS Pre-University Politics, Economics and Social Science

This interdisciplinary course combines the study of Politics, Economics and Social Science and gives an understanding of the interactions between economic, social and
political processes. This course covers how governments, policies and international
relations work, learning to understand people and businesses, markets and governments, and how to respond to national and global changes, whilst understanding society, human behaviour and relationships. Students will have the option of taking a language, Irish, French or Spanish, along with EuropeanStudies. These qualifications can be used to progress to a variety of degree and certificate programmes in a wide range of Universities.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates may pursue a degree in many Universities. Alternatively, students may seek immediate employment in a range of public service bodies or business. There is now a large range of certificates, ordinary and honours degree courses available to graduates on the newly expanded QQI Links Programme. The Pre-University Politics, Economics & Social Science option will allow students to progress to third level colleges and universities like Maynooth University, Trinity, Technological University of the Shannon Athlone, TUD, DCU, Dundalk Institute of Technology.
