Diane McQuaid
Level 5 Pre-University Sports Science

Sports Science was the perfect choice for me because of my passion for sport and science subjects in secondary school. The modules within this course were very useful to me due to the fact that they included both practical and theoretical work.

Teachers helped us students every step of the way ensuring every question was answered in a friendly way.

Dunboyne was a great step from 6th year as I feel I am more ready for higher education now. It taught me many things such as referencing and being able to present in class, as well as doing lab experiments.

I am so glad I chose this course here in DCFE, as not only did it help me figure out I wanted to continue my studies to become a Physical Education Teacher, I also have made great friends here for life.

I had many opportunities here in DCFE, such as, work experience in my local gym, taking part in fitness classes, lab experiments, a tour to Croke Park and much more. I enjoyed my year here in Dunboyne and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Michaela Gavigan
Level 5 Pre-University Sports Science

My year in Dunboyne College has been an incredible experience as I went into the course feeling unsure about what I wanted to study and it has completely cemented my wish to study sports science.

Having only done biology in 6th year, I wanted to get a taste of the other science subjects such as chemistry and physics. After completing this course I have fallen in love with these subjects. This is with thanks to the amazing tutors, their support cannot be recognised enough as I felt they were an integral part of the year for me, always there and happy to help with anything.

Another reason I wanted to do this course in Dunboyne was to have a feel for college life before jumping straight into a three or four year course. I felt this year was a great stepping stone between secondary school and college. I believe this has benefited me massively as I have learned skills such as referencing and uploading assignments and I am now very excited and feel extremely prepared going into college.

I found the course content to be very interesting, informative and a joy to study. I would highly recommend this course and I had the most amazing year.

Animal Care

My time at DCFE allowed me to find myself and thrive in both, an academic and social sense.

I began the year unsure of myself and unsure of my plan for the future was. I allowed myself to step out of my comfort zone which gave me so much confidence.

As part of my work experience, I got to work in one of Ireland’s best veterinary hospitals and that was exactly what I needed for me to recognise I was on the right path. Work experience went so well, and this resulted in me being employed as an Animal Care Assistant which has provided so much joy in my life and I wholeheartedly love every aspect of my job.

Being able to study a course you are passionate about and getting hands on experience in this field is so incredibly valuable to any student at this stage of life.

I am so grateful to have spent my time here at DCFE and I am now leaving with so much confidence, eagerness for the future and amazing friends to join me along the way.
