WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY ARTS?
This one-year course will aim to prepare participants for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges as well as preparing students to work in a European environment both in Ireland and abroad. Students will be able to take this cultural option through archaeology, folklore and history modules or concentrate on a language option with European Studies.

There are now over 175 places in First Arts in Maynooth University, 30 places in UCD as well as numerous places in Maynooth University, UCD, DCU, Mater Dei, Milltown, UCC, Athlone IT, Carlow College, NUIG, TU Dublin, St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, Carlow College, Marino Institute of Education, American College Dublin, Dun Laoghaire IADT, NCAD and many local IT colleges for students who hold a QQI qualification in Culture and Heritage Studies or Language and European Studies.

WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY LIBERAL ARTS?
This one-year course, similar to our other arts programme, aims to prepare participants for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges, as well as preparing students to work in a European environment both in Ireland and abroad. However, the Liberal Arts option attributes more of a focus on The Arts, English Literature and European languages. Students will have the option of taking a language, Irish or Spanish, along with European Studies or can focus on a more English Literature based course, which will lead to a general studies option.

WHAT IS EDUCATION AND TRAINING?
This one-year course, similar to our other arts programme, aims to prepare participants for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges but also lay foundations for those who want to pursue a career as either a primary or post-primary teacher. While the course also prepares students for entry to employment in a range of settings, it is mainly aimed at those who want to pursue careers in the education and training arena. By progressing to an arts degree or education and training qualification, and then on to a post graduate qualification, students can access the many opportunities in the world of education and training. This course basically lays the foundation for those who know education is their first choice of career.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
There are now over 175 places in First Arts in 30 places in UCD as well as numerous places in Maynooth University, DCU, UCC, and many local IT colleges for students who hold a QQI qualification in Education and Training. There are also opportunities in education, training, European administration, as well as in the business world. Graduates from this course may gain entry to the BSc Education and Training at DCU. While there is no direct link to primary teaching from QQI, students on completion of the Level 5 award, may apply through the CAO for a range of available courses as part of the newly expanded QQI Links scheme. These include Education Studies and Early Childhood Studies at Marino Institute of Education, Post-Primary Teacher Education at DCU and Arts Degrees at DCU, Maynooth and UCD.
There are also a large range of other degree courses available in universities and Institutes of Technology throughout the country. Students can then apply for the Postgraduate Masters in Education (PME) which results in a qualified primary or post primary teacher.

WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY LAW?
This one-year course will prepares participants for entrance into Law and Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges. As well as preparing students to work in a legal environment both in Ireland and abroad. By progressing to a Law degree, and then on to a post graduate qualification, students can access the many opportunities available to those with a legal qualification. This course lays the foundation for those who know Law is their first choice and supports those who are planning to study Law at degree level. WHAT IS BUSINESS LAW?
This one-year course prepares participants for entrance into law and arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges. It also prepares students to work both in a legal environment in Ireland and abroad as well as in the legal departments of the business world. WHAT IS PRE-UNIVERSITY LAW WITH POLITICS?
This one-year course will prepare participants for entrance into Law and Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges. It will also prepare students to work in a legal environment both in Ireland and abroad. This law course option is available with political studies. Law and politics are two distinctive disciplines that are often intrinsically connected. Students will have the opportunity to explore legal and political theory while developing critical research and communication skills. Graduates with a degree in this area have a broad range of career options such in law, consultancy, public sector roles, political roles, public affairs and advocacy.

WHAT IS Pre-University Politics, Economics and Social Science
This interdisciplinary course combines the study of Politics, Economics and Social Science and gives an understanding of the interactions between economic, social and
political processes. This course covers how governments, policies and international
relations work, learning to understand people and businesses, markets and governments, and how to respond to national and global changes, whilst understanding society, human behaviour and relationships. Students will have the option of taking a language, Irish, French or Spanish, along with EuropeanStudies. These qualifications can be used to progress to a variety of degree and certificate programmes in a wide range of Universities.
