Professional Cookery

WHAT IS THIS COURSE?

This course is designed to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skills and competence to work using a range of specialised skills in a professional kitchen. The course provides the student with an opportunity to obtain experience in a wide range of specialised areas such as food and beverage services, bakeries, and busy restaurants while gaining a sound general knowledge in areas needed to function in the hotel and catering environment.

This course leads to a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Professional Cookery and includes the modules; Culinary Techniques, Menu Design and Applied Nutrition, Culinary Food Safety Management, Gastronomy, Culinary Event, Hospitality Business, International Cuisine, Work Experience, and Pastry Baking and Desserts.

WHAT IS THIS COURSE?

The Advanced Beauty Therapy course at Dunboyne College of Further Education offers highly specialised treatments such as Facial Electrical and Electrical Epilation. This beauty course is ideal for students who wish to advance their current beauty qualifications and further their career within the Beauty Industry. We offer students an ideal opportunity to train to the highest standard for QQI Level 6 Beauty Therapy Award and also ITEC Diplomas.

While studying on the Advanced Beauty Therapy course, students gain experience in both theoretical and practical work. Students participate in work experience where they gain valuable insights into a career within a beauty salon or spa, or in a specialised skin or body care centre. As you will also work to achieve ITEC diplomas it will give you the opportunity to travel and work on cruise ships such as Steiner. Having a full QQI Level 6 qualification also allows you to access many higher education courses around the country. Modules include: Body and Beauty Science, Work Experience, Communications, Electrical Epilation, Nail Technology, Indian Head Massage, Depilation, Tanning and Lightning Treatments.

WHAT IS THIS COURSE?

This award is designed to enable the successful learners to gain an in-depth understanding of the role and function of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship within an organisation and in the growing Irish and international business sector. It offers the learners the opportunity to develop effective general management skills with an understanding of the function of management within any organisation. Students all study the general business modules at Level 6 including: Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing Management, Word Processing, Event Management, Communications and Work Experience.

Those who want to opt for an award at Level 6 in the tourism and business area can also study Tourism Practice and Principles as well as Hotel Reception. Those who want to opt for Equine Business can add Equine Nutrition and Stable and Yard supervision at Level 6 to their business award. On successful completion of the Advanced Certificate QQI Level 6 students can access courses in Institutes of Technology such as, Tallaght, many times at advanced entry level.

This programme offers a range of employment opportunities to pursue a career in business, finance, or management.
