WHAT IS AIRLINE STUDIES?
This one-year course is designed to prepare students for all aspects of the growing airline and travel in Ireland. This course provides students with the necessary skills to take up employment in the tourism industry or in the travel area as members of Airline Cabin Crew and Travel Consultancy. The course also includes a unique Cabin Crew Course, accredited by International Academy of Travel (IAOT). This course also gives students the possibility to be selected for an Erasmus exchange.
CERTIFICATION
- QQI Level 5 Certificate in Tourism or Business.
- Ready for Take off Diploma and Amadeus qualifications validated by the International Academy of Travel.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
This qualification can be used to progress to certificate and degree programmes in IT colleges or universities in business or tourism. Alternatively, graduates may seek immediate employment in a range of airline, tourism or marketing careers. The Tourism and Business option will allow students to progress to colleges like TU Dublin City Campus, TU Dublin Tallaght, UCC, NUIG (Shannon) for tourism and travel as well as other colleges for business certificates and degrees. Students may also apply for any of the colleges listed under Business.

This is the ideal starting point for a successful and fulfilling career in beauty therapy. Students develop the required skills to work in a professional beauty salon and also perfect the customer communication essential to its success. Beauty Therapy is a thriving profession. There are continuing developments in beauty products, beauty therapy equipment, practices and procedures. Levels of education and training are being upgraded in parallel with changing professional therapists’ requirements. This course caters for school leavers and mature learners. It is an intense, one-year programme, which requires a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.

WHAT IS PROFESSIONAL COOKERY?

WHAT IS SPORTS MANAGEMENT AND COACHING?
This one-year course aims to prepare participants for work with people in the sports, coaching, recreation or leisure industries. Sports management and coaching graduates will gain the social, communication and leadership skills to work with individuals and groups in the growing sports coaching and health and fitness areas. Many of the skills acquired will be transferable for use in business or community development settings. Sports Management and Coaching will lay a foundation for these skills and provide the work experience to put learning into practice.
Students can also opt to specialise in GAA coaching and obtain coaching badges. This programme is ideal for both school leavers and experienced, mature persons seeking a formal education. It will allow graduates to pursue scholarship programmes in Ireland or abroad. By taking science modules, students can claim the science award and apply for Health Science in DCU.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The new Sports Management and Coaching degree course in TU Dublin Blanchardstown will offer graduates a local alternative to advance their studies to honours degree level. Graduates can also access honours sports programmes in TU Dublin City Campus, Dundalk Institute of Technology, UCC, Carlow IT, Letterkenny IT, Tralee IT, Waterford Institute of Technology (or students can access the scholarship programmes in Ireland or the US). Students can progress to PE Teaching via an undergraduate degree at IT Tralee or Cork University and to the Postgraduate Master in PE Teaching at UL. Sports students also have access to the 175 Arts places every year in Maynooth University. The course will give graduates the opportunity to become sports development officers or work in areas like gyms, leisure centres, or sports clubs. The general qualification will lead to careers in the rapidly expanding leisure industry. The Level 5 qualification can lead to certificate or degree courses in Sports or indeed Business, Computers, etc. in many IT colleges and universities throughout the country, as well as pursuing a QQI Level 6 in Sports or Leisure Management courses in various colleges of further education.

WHAT IS SPORTS INJURY PREVENTION AND MASSAGE THERAPY?
This one-year course will equip students with the knowledge and skills required for working within the area of sports injury prevention and sports massage therapy in the sports, coaching, recreation and leisure industries. Students will expand their education on the physiological principles related to sports massage and injury prevention. This course offers the potential to develop your studies onto third level education. Graduates can attain an internationally recognised qualification, upon achieving the QQI Level 5 standard of this course.

WHAT IS ANIMAL CARE?
This one-year course is designed to give students an introduction to the world of animal care and grooming. The course has been designed to meet a growing demand in Ireland for people to work in the animal care services.

WHAT IS HORSEMANSHIP?
This new one-year course will prepare students for the ever expanding Irish equine industry and provide students with the knowledge and skills relating to the horse industry. The education and training on this course works to enable the student who loves horses to pursue a career in the horse industry, or continue their studies at third level in the equine area.
By changing their combination of modules, students can avail of the Business award or Laboratory Techniques award to continue to third level to study in this area.
